Our Nursery

Little Crickets Sunderland is a warm and nurturing nursery located within the Argyle House School site, less than a mile from Sunderland City Centre. Conveniently situated near key employers such as Sunderland Royal Hospital, Sunderland University, and Sunderland Football Club, we offer an ideal location for working families.

Our nursery is open 50 weeks a year, from 8:00am to 5:30pm, and currently welcomes children from 2 years 9 months up to school age. We’re also excited to announce plans to expand our provision to include younger children in the near future.

As part of Argyle House School, Little Crickets benefits from access to the full range of school facilities and is proud to be rated ‘Good’ in all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). We accept both 15 and 30 hours of government-funded childcare.

Children at Little Crickets are taught by fully qualified teachers and follow a thoughtfully designed curriculum. From an early age, our pupils engage in structured lessons in English, Maths, and Science, laying strong foundations for success in Reception—whether they move on to Argyle House School or another setting.

We also offer unique opportunities such as weekly swimming lessons for children aged 3 and over at Silksworth Sports Complex. Our pupils enjoy a dedicated space within the school building, a secure outdoor play area, and take part in enriching educational visits and workshops led by external providers including Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue, Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens, and Procter & Gamble.

A distinctive feature of Little Crickets is our close integration with the wider school community. Nursery children have regular lessons with the Reception class, encouraging early friendships and easing the transition into full-time education.
